Innovative Leadership for Future Change

We’ve all heard the axiom “you can’t know where you’re going if you don’t know where you’ve been.” To some degree, that’s true. In their book “The Leader of the Future 2: Visions, Strategies, and Practices for the New Era”, Frances Hesselbein and Marshall Goldsmith noted the importance of learning from history – particularly the history of business and industry – and contended that “…the lessons of history are so poorly learned.” To some, this may sound like a mandate to replicate history…even bad history. I believe, however, it’s a mandate for leaders to glean lessons from the past to aid in developing organizational cultures that address current and future business challenges. (Read More…)
